Mercer University’s Combined Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling/Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) integrates counselor education and theological preparation through the College of Professional Advancement and School of Theology. This program is ideal for individuals interested in addressing the behavioral and spiritual challenges many face today. Students learn theological foundations in biblical studies, church traditions, philosophy, and ethics, and gain knowledge in the counseling profession. Mercer’s CACREP-accredited* counseling program provides candidates with relevant internship experience working with clients.

Graduates are prepared to seek licensure as professional counselors in the State of Georgia. In 2019, counseling program graduates achieved a 95% first-time pass rate on the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination (CPCE).

Graduates of the combined degree program may pursue a variety of pastoral and counseling careers including:
