Faculty at Mercer University have access to a wide range of support resources through the Department of Information Technology and the Center for Teaching and Learning. The Department of Information Technology (https://it.mercer.edu) offers essential tools and services to assist with technology-related needs, including hardware and software support, classroom technology assistance, and access to university-supported applications. The department also provides services and support for the installation and use of academic technologies approved by the university. Faculty can contact the IT Help Desk directly for assistance or use the online portal to submit a support ticket for timely help with technical issues. Additionally, the Center for Teaching and Learning provides faculty development resources, pedagogical support, and guidance on effective teaching strategies and instructional technologies. Faculty are encouraged to explore the valuable resources available to them by visiting these websites and taking advantage of the support services offered to enhance their teaching and instructional effectiveness.
Instructional and Learning Design
Dr. Jacqueline Stephen, Assistant Professor and Director of Instructional and Learning Design, supports faculty in the College of Professional Advancement by providing guidance on effective teaching and learning practices in blended and online environments. She maintains a self-enroll Canvas course for adjunct and full-time faculty, regularly updating it with resources and guidance on instructional strategies, digital tools, and course design. Dr. Stephen also designed and maintains the college’s Certificate in Online Course Design and Delivery and facilitates an annual refresher focused on best practices in blended and online teaching. She organizes and moderates the college’s annual Faculty Showcase of Online and Blended Courses and contributes to professional development by facilitating sessions during college- and department-level retreats and events. In addition to serving on the college’s leadership team, she participates in internal and external academic program reviews and serves on various college and university committees.
