Solve real-world problems with artificial intelligence techniques and data science tools

Mercer’s Master of Science (M.S.) in Data Science covers programming, data structures and algorithms, machine learning, data modeling, computational statistics, computer science courses, and culminates in a capstone project.

Students in the data science master’s program are equipped with advanced skills in programming, machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), deep learning, and statistics, and are prepared to tackle complex data-driven challenges across a wide range of industries. Upon graduation, students may pursue data science jobs in a range of industries including cybersecurity, economics, energy, health sciences, human resources, social networks, supply chain and logistics, telecommunications, transportation, and more.

 

Your data science program experience

Curriculum in the M.S. in Data Science is a fusion of computational science, algorithms and algorithmic theory, machine learning, and artificial intelligence master’s level coursework. There are no required data science master’s prerequisites, and previous experience in the field is not required to apply. Courses are structured in eight-week terms starting in January and August, and students can comfortably take one three-hour course per term while maintaining a work-life balance. The average program completion time is 18-24 months.

Hands-on data science curriculum

Mercer’s M.S. in Data Science equips you with the practical skills and experience needed to meet machine learning job requirements by working with real-world data. As a graduate student, you will manipulate data sets and develop in-demand expertise through LLM online courses that explore advanced machine learning, deep learning, and AI applications.

Courses include hands-on practice in computer labs and virtual computing environments. You may also choose to advance your experience through an internship or participate in an applied project.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to enhance your skills as a consultant to Mercer and other clients. Through these projects, you will apply the knowledge gained from your data and computer science courses while building and expanding your network through Mercer’s connections to the industry and professionals in data science in Georgia.

Mercer’s M.S. in Data Science degree requires 36 credit hours. The core courses cover the foundations you need to understand data processing, data structures, and data intelligence.

Once you complete your core competencies, you can choose from a variety of data intelligence, cloud computing, and machine learning courses to advance your education.

Mercer’s M.S. in Data Science equips graduates with the knowledge and skills to stand out in a wide variety of data science jobs.
