Take the first step toward providing care for others
Becoming a nurse is a calling that is answered by compassionate individuals who have a strong desire to care and provide for others. Admission to the top nursing programs, including Mercer’s College of Nursing, is highly competitive and weighted on a number of factors, including completion of prerequisite courses. Mercer’s College of Professional Advancement offers a variety of required prerequisite courses to prepare you to apply to nursing school. Whether you are seeking to complete all courses available in the Pre-Nursing track or you are interested in completing a few prerequisite classes, Mercer has an option for you.
Completion of the Pre-Nursing curriculum does not guarantee admission to any college or school of nursing. Students who complete the curriculum will position themselves as stronger candidates for admission into their desired nursing program.
Designed for busy and working adults
The Pre-Nursing track offers flexibility for busy adults through a fully online option or a combination of online and evening classes at Mercer’s Douglas County and Henry County locations. Students are admitted five times per year in January, March, May, August, and October.
Pursue a career caring for patients
Low unemployment rates and long-term field growth puts nursing among the top five careers, according to U.S. News & World Report rankings. Individuals who complete a nursing degree can pursue professional registered nurse licensure. Nurses with graduate qualifications can obtain positions in nursing education and administration.
