Education

Colin Harris retired in 2013 after serving with Mercer for 36 years in the Atlanta College of Arts and Sciences, University College, the School of Education, and the College of Professional Advancement he is proud to claim. He is a Mercer alumnus of the class of 1965, and he did further study and received degrees from the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Duke University. He taught at Meredith College and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary before joining the Mercer faculty. He served for several years as chair of the Humanities and Liberal Studies Departments.

In retirement, he serves as a trustee of Developmental Disabilities Ministries of Georgia, a columnist for EthicsDaily.com, a member of the Coordinating Council of Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Georgia, and a teacher of an adult church school class.

He and his wife, Faye, also a Mercer alumna and a retired elementary teacher, have two children–both math teachers–and three grandchildren.

His teaching with Mercer focused on general religious studies, biblical literature, theology, and ethics.
